I created what I couldn't find.

I could tell you that I started emolon because I wanted to help people. But that wouldn't be the whole truth.
I created it because I was looking for something myself.
For a long time, I listend to a world that constantly told me there was more to become. More successful. More confident. More productive. I believed that was what life was about. Keep going. Becomes better. Don't fall behind. But you know... The moments that mattered most in my life had nothing to do with becoming anything. Someone sitting beside me when I didn't know what to say. Laughing with a friend about something completely stupid. Walking somewhere without needing to get anywhere. Being able to admit that I wasn't okay without someone immediately trying to fix it.
Those moments didn't make me a better person. They made me feel human.
Maybe we don't always need another person telling us how to improve. Maybe sometimes we need a place where nobody expects us to have everything figured out. Where we don't have to pretend we're okay. Where we're not treated like a problem that needs fixing. Where someone simply meets you where you are.
Just... human to human.
That thought became emolon.
The more people I spoke to, the more I realized how much we have in common. Our lives may look completely different but underneath all of it, I think many of us are looking for the same things.
To feel understood. To belong. To have people around us we don't have to perform for. To be able to say "I don't know" without feeling ashamed of it. To make mistakes without believing those mistakes define us. To have someone we can call when life gets difficult. And maybe, more than anything... to feel like we can simply be ourselves.
But life doesn't always give us that. Sometimes the person we would call isn't there. Sometimes we don't want to burden anyone. Sometimes we don't even know how to explain what we're feeling. And sometimes we're surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. I kept thinking about the moments when someone picks up their phone and thinks:
I just wish I had someone to talk to right now.
That became the beginning of something else: Borrow a Friend.
The idea behind it is almost ridiculously simple. What if, for a little while, you could borrow a friend?
Not an expert. Not a coach. Not someone who has figured life out. Just someone who stays with you for a while. Someone who listens. Who tells you stories. Who asks you questions. Who isn't in a hurry to turn your difficult evening into a breakthrough.
Who doesn't need you to be anything other than who you are right now.
That's what I want an emolon experience to feel like. Like spending time with someone who genuinely cares. Maybe we're sitting beside a fire. Maybe we're taking a walk. Maybe you're lying in bed at midnight with your headphones on. It doesn't really matter. What matters is that, for a while, you don't have to carry everything alone.
And perhaps that's where Return to yourself really begins. By having enough space to hear yourself again. To be honest about how you're doing. To understand yourself instead of immediately judging yourself. To remember that being uncertain, scared, tired, hopeful, excited, confused or completely lost sometimes... is part of being human. And then... you go back out there.
Returning to yourself was never supposed to mean retreating from life.
It's supposed to help you live it.
Meet people. Make mistakes. Laugh until your stomach hurts. Have conversations that last far longer than you planned. Take a trip. Change your mind. Fall in love. Get your heart broken. Try something you're terrible at. Sit around a table with people you care about. Get lost. Find your way again. Start over. There will be difficult days. There will be beautiful ones. And there will be thousands of completely ordinary days somewhere in between. That's life. And I don't want emolon to help people escape from it. I want emolon to help people return to it.
I don't know exactly what emolon will become. And maybe I don't need to know yet. But I know what I hope it will always feel like. A place you can come to without having to perform. A place that doesn't tell you who to become. A place where difficult conversations don't have to be rushed. A place where being human is enough. And sometimes a friend when you need one.
Then, when you're ready, you close the laptop. Take off your headphones. Step outside. Call someone. Go somewhere. Do something you've been putting off. Or simply continue with your day. Maybe nothing dramatic has changed. You're still you. Your life is still waiting exactly where you left it. But perhaps, for a little while, you felt understood. A little less alone. A little more like yourself.
And sometimes, that's all we need to take the next step.
Return to yourself. Live more.
That's why I created emolon.
